A cyclic relay or cyclic time relay is used to periodically switch on electrical loads (e.g. lamps, fans, etc.) or to activate control signals in automatic monitoring or control systems (e.g. to turn on a flashing emergency light or an audible signal). This cyclic timer can be useful for organizing automatic ventilation processes, opening and closing windows, periodically turning on heating or ventilation, for lighting or rotating advertising signs.

If you configure the relay so that its on and off times are symmetrical, it can, for example, be used to gradually turn on certain electrical devices in case of power or load limitations (heaters, heat generators). A breaking output contact allows the cycle to be started either pulsed or with a pause.

The time relay is mounted on a standard 35 mm DIN rail
