Reactive power control relays are designed to reduce the reactive power (inductive and capacitive) not used by the load and taken from the grid. When inductive power is taken from the grid, the relay intervenes by removing a capacitor of appropriate value. If capacitive power is taken from the grid, it intervenes by removing a shunt inductor of appropriate value. In this way, it tries to reduce the inductive/active and capacitive/active rates of the system. It is designed to provide a more reasonable compensation in unbalanced inductive and capacitive systems with RGT-MT18 TCR stages
